LANSING--Mayor Schor is announcing a series of new endorsements this week after his successful primary election. The first is Lansing School Board Vice President Rachel Willis. She joins several other school board members, including President Gabrielle Lawrence, Nino Rodriguez, Missy Lilje, and Guillermo Lopez. Vice President Willis and the Mayor have worked closely together on education initiatives in the past.

"As a longtime resident of Lansing, I am endorsing Mayor Andy Schor for Lansing Mayor. I believe Lansing is a great city and will benefit from strong leadership like the Mayor's as we continue into the next four years," said Willis of her endorsement. "The Mayor has demonstrated that he understands Lansing's needs and is willing to bring about crucial changes to better our infrastructure, education, business investment, and diversity at all levels of city services. I honestly encourage everyone in Lansing to support Andy Schor."

Schor responded in kind, saying, "I am proud to receive the endorsement of the Lansing School Board Vice President, Rachel Willis. Lansing's School Board is a vital institution in our community, especially so as we transition back to in-person schooling and ensure our kids get caught up." He added, "Rachel's leadership with our children and experience in social work has made her an important leader in the City of Lansing. Over the past nine years that Rachel has served on the Board, she has led with a steady hand, leading projects such as the Pathway Promise, strategic planning and superintendent searches. I am honored to receive her support."

Mayor Schor has made connecting with the Lansing School District a priority, and has worked with the Lansing School District Administration and School Board Members. He has set a liaison from the city to the school district, has worked with the school district on important initiatives such as Lansing SAVE and BOLD Lansing, and is a proud member of the Lansing Promise board.

Mayor Schor has also been endorsed by U.S. Senator Gary Peters, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, nearly a dozen labor unions, small business owner Gregory Eaton, former Mayor Tony Benavides, and many other neighborhood leaders, Lansing and regional elected officials, small business owners, and others. Schor also recently finished the release of his vision for Lansing’s future, which will be updated throughout the campaign trail.
