LANSING--The Greater Lansing Labor Council today endorsed Lansing Mayor Andy Schor's bid for reelection. The Greater Lansing Labor Council is one of nearly 500 state and local labor councils of the AFL-CIO and is at the heart of the labor movement. As a group, they “advocate for social and economic justice and strive daily to vanquish oppression and make our communities better for all people.”

“Mayor Schor has shown his dedication to growing Lansing and supporting our local workforce and businesses. His commitment to Lansing and the residents, workers, and industries that live and work here has proven his effectiveness,” Glenn Freeman, the President of the Greater Lansing Labor Council said. “We look forward to continuing to work with Mayor Schor in the future as we both pursue prosperity for the people and workers of Lansing.”

“I am honored by the endorsement of the Greater Lansing Labor Council for my campaign for reelection as Mayor. Bringing labor and business together to boost our local economy is important for Lansing’s future. I look forward to working with the unions of the Greater Lansing Labor Council to grow jobs, prosperity, and vibrancy as both Lansing and Michigan recover from COVID and the economic challenges posed by the pandemic,” said Mayor Schor.

The Greater Lansing Labor Council is one of many union organizations to endorse Mayor Schor for reelection. Mayor Schor has a growing list of endorsers. He is joined by Senator Gary Peters, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, nearly a dozen labor unions, small business owner Gregory Eaton, former Mayor Tony Benavides, and many other neighborhood leaders, Lansing and regional elected officials, small business owners, and others. Schor also recently finished the release of his vision for Lansing’s future, which will be updated throughout the campaign trail.
