LANSING--Today the Central Michigan Area Local 488 of the American Postal Workers Union announced their support for Lansing Mayor Andy Schor's bid for reelection. The organization is a unit of the national union representing local postal employees and boasts almost 200 members from around central Michigan.

Spokesperson for the union John Greathouse, union editor since 2015, spoke highly of the Mayor's tenure in Lansing. "I respect Mayor Schor's focus on city infrastructure over the past four years. Though the postal workers are part of the federal government, we see in our everyday work the importance of infrastructure funding at all levels of government. I'm grateful to be able to support a leader who will stand up for government services and the workers that provide them."

"As Mayor, I've made it a priority to work with our local workers and it is an honor to receive this endorsement and support from our hard-working postal workers," said the Mayor. "I look forward to continuing to work with Local 488 as my team and I strive to grow the city in partnership with the incredible labor force here in Lansing, and the community leaders that make Lansing great."

The postal workers' endorsement is one of a number of union endorsements the Mayor has received in the past few months, including those of many of the building trades, city services and infrastructure workers, ironworkers, and others. Mayor Schor has a growing list of endorsers. He is joined by Senator Gary Peters, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, a dozen labor unions, small business owner Gregory Eaton, former Mayor Tony Benavides, and many other neighborhood leaders, Lansing and regional elected officials, small business owners, and others. Schor also finished the release of his vision for Lansing’s future, which has been updated throughout the campaign trail.
