You can register to vote and vote in person up until and on Election Day at the city clerk’s offices by 8 p.m. on Election Day in order to register and vote. (You’ll need to bring your proof of eligibility and residency)

Our four step processes of making a plan to vote!
1. Register to vote
To register, you must be a U.S. citizen, be at least 18 years old on Election Day, and be a Michigan resident. You can register in person with a photo ID at the Lansing City Clerk's Office or a Michigan Secretary of State branch. You can also register online by completing the Voter Registration Application here.

2. Make a plan and Decide how you will vote on or by Tuesday Nov. 4th
Absentee Voting
A registered voter may obtain an absent voter ballot for any reason. However, it is important to fill your absentee ballot out early to ensure it gets to your clerk in time. If you registered by mail, you may need to vote in person for your first election.
To register to vote absentee, fill out the online form here through the Michigan Secretary of State. Alternatively, you can also call your local clerk and request an application to vote absentee be mailed to you. You can also apply in person at your local clerk's office. Early Voting
Make sure you know when and where.
WHEN: Only these four days of Early Voting.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25 FROM 12 – 4PM
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29 FROM 1 – 7PM
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1 FROM 10AM – 4PM
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2 FROM 10AM – 4PM

In Person Voting
Once you have registered to vote, you can vote in person at your assigned polling place. If you are unsure where you need to go to vote, you can check with the Secretary of State here.
City of Lansing residents can check here with the Lansing City Clerk’s webpage to find their precinct and assigned polling place.
Military & Overseas Voting
To qualify for overseas voting, you must be one of the following:
Active Duty: an active duty member of the Uniformed Services or Merchant Marine;
Family of Active Duty: an eligible spouse or family member of an active duty member of the Uniformed Services or Merchant Marine; or
Reside Abroad: a U.S. citizen residing outside the U.S.
If you qualify, complete the Federal PostCard Application (FPCA). Michigan does not require a witness signature. Return the form to your local Clerk's Office. For more help registering to vote overseas, visit FVAP.gov.
