The Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters announced today its endorsement of State Representative Andy Schor for Lansing Mayor.

“Our members value leaders who share and understand their values, and we believe the best choice for Lansing Mayor is Andy Schor,” said Lisa Canada, Political and Legislative Director of the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights. “He has stood with us shoulder to shoulder on so many issues important to our members, such as prevailing wage, Right To Work, and misclassification. He believes in ensuring quality jobs for working men and women in the Capital Region, which is the major reason for offering our support today.”

Canada said Schor’s commitment to economic development, job creation, and labor rights were critical factors in making their endorsement of his candidacy.

“We want our next Lansing Mayor to be an advocate for working families across Michigan – Andy Schor will be that Mayor, “Canada said. “His history as a county commissioner and as a state representative has proven time and again that he believes in our members, and listens to our concerns about employment and job creation. We believe he will do an excellent job as the city of Lansing’s next leader.”

Schor, who currently serves as State Representative for the 68th District, announced his candidacy for Lansing Mayor last week. This announcement is the second major labor endorsement for Schor this week, with the UA Local 333 Plumbers and Pipefitters pledging their support on Tuesday.
